Description
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Tank’d L.A.P (Liquid Applied Polyurethane) is available in Grey for the first coat and purple for the second coat. It is a high-performance, eco-friendly, acrylic flexible polyurethane waterproofing membrane designed to provide superior UV stability for internal and external use. It uses advanced polyurethane-modified water-based polymers and offers reliable protection against both weatherproofing and waterproofing challenges.
Tank’d L.A.P cures into a flexible, seamless barrier with excellent adhesion across a range of substrates. Its elastomeric properties ensure durability under UV exposure and varying or extreme temperatures without cracking or degrading over time or suffering thermal flow at elevated temperatures.
KEY FEATURES
- CSIRO Certified**: AS/NZS 4858:2004 Wet Area Membrane
- Flexible & Durable**: Class 3 membrane with over 300% elongation
- Eco-Friendly**: Low odour, user-friendly application
- Quick Drying**: Ready for recoating within 4-5 hours (ambient temperature)
RECOMMENDED USES
Tank’d L.A.P is ideal for roofing, basements, kitchens, bathrooms, and shower areas.
It can be applied on a variety of porous substrates, including Gyprock, fibre cement, concrete, render, brickwork, screen and plasterboard.
APPLICATION GUIDELINES
Thinning: Not required; the product is ready for use.
Application Method: Apply with a brush or roller. Avoid application in temperatures below 10°C or above 40°C.
DRYING TIME
Drying (25C & 50% R.H.)
- Touch Dry: 30 minutes
- Re-coating: 4-5 hours at 20°C
For optimal results, it is recommended that only one coat be applied per day to prevent accidental damage to the membrane.
Coverage is approximately 1 sqm per litre per coat. prime coat followed by 2-3 coats is recommended for best performance.
CLEAN UP
Clean up with water
POINTS TO CONSIDER
- Ensure the dry film thickness (DFT) is between 0.5mm and 1.0mm per coat.
- More material may be required for rough or textured surfaces.
- Avoid overcoating surfaces previously treated with silicone-based products.
SURFACE PREPARATION
Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, oil, grease, and curing compounds. Remove loose particles (e.g., rust, and cement) with a wire brush. Treat fungal growths with a fungicide.
Concrete: Fully cured (6-8 weeks) with a semi-rough surface. Rendered surfaces must be cured for at least 7 (seven) days. Ensure a level surface with no more than 4mm variation.
Screed: Full cure 7 days unless additive used then check cure time on the additive packing is required
Gypsum Plasterboard: Install per the manufacturer’s guidelines. Cover all joints with 50mm tape and seal nail heads with epoxy. The sheet thickness for walls must be at least 10mm.
Fibre Cement Sheets: Minimum 6mm thickness for floors/walls, and 15mm for floors in compressed fibre cement applications.
PRIMING INSTRUCTIONS
Apply Primer using a brush, roller, or squeegee.
Allow 10-30 minutes for the primer to dry at 20°C before applying the waterproof membrane.
APPLICATION PROCESS
- Remove loose or sharp surfaces and treat any fungal growth.
- Fill cracks and voids with mastic sealant.
- Apply the primer or on porous surfaces dilute the membrane with 10%water and allow it to dry.
- Apply the first coat of Tank’d L.A.P. Allow to dry.
- Once dry, apply the second coat at a 90° angle to the first to ensure full coverage. Remove air bubbles for optimal waterproofing.
- Apply additional coats if required, ensuring a dry film thickness of 0.6mm per coat.
- Allow 24 hours before applying tile adhesive.
